This policy explains how Offmap collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you use our website and app at offmap.ai (the “Service”), and the choices you have.
Offmap is operated by Mohammad Taha Zakir and Farrukh Masood (“Offmap”, “we”, “us”), who are responsible for the personal information described here. You can reach us at [email protected].
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information, such as your email address and name. You sign in with a code we email you or with Google.
- Your resume and profile. When you upload a resume, we extract its text to build your profile: education, experience, projects and skills. We do not keep the resume file itself. Your profile also includes the preferences you give us, such as your work authorization and the kind of role you want.
- Content you create, such as email drafts and the applications you track.
- Payment information. Payments are processed by Polar, our merchant of record. We receive confirmation of your purchase and subscription status, but not your card details.
- Communications you send us, such as support requests.
Information collected automatically
- Usage information, such as the features you use, the companies you view, the actions you take in the app and when, and the website or link that referred you.
- Device and log information, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. We keep IP addresses only in a hashed form, for security.
- Cookies. We use only the cookie needed to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics cookies. Visits to our public pages are counted in aggregate, without cookies or identifiers.
Information from others
If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID.
How we use information
- To provide the Service: building your profile, matching you with companies, and drafting emails for you to review and send yourself.
- To process payments and manage your subscription.
- To communicate with you, including sign-in codes and messages about your account.
- To understand how the Service is used and to improve it.
- To keep the Service secure, apply usage limits, and prevent fraud and abuse.
- To comply with the law.
We use AI models to read resumes and draft emails. These models are provided by Amazon Web Services through Amazon Bedrock, which does not store your content or use it to train models. We do not use your resume, profile or drafts to train any model.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising. We share it only as follows:
- Service providers who process it on our behalf, under contracts that limit their use of it. They are listed below.
- Legal reasons, when we believe in good faith that the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or Offmap.
- Business transfers, if Offmap is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.
- With your consent.

To find contact details for people at companies, we use Hunter (hunter.io). We send Hunter information about the company, never about you.
Google user data. Offmap’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use it only to sign you in, show your profile picture, and put your name on your drafts.
Data retention
We keep your account information, profile, content and usage information for as long as your account is open. Some information is kept for shorter periods: sign-in codes for 24 hours, sign-in sessions for 30 days after your last visit, hashed IP addresses and server logs for 30 days.
You can delete your account at any time from your Profile. We then delete your personal information from our systems immediately, and from our backups within 35 days. We may keep information where the law requires it.
Your rights and choices
You can access and update your profile in the app and delete your account at any time. You can also ask us for a copy of your personal information, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it, by writing to [email protected]. We respond within 30 days.
EU and UK users. We process your information to perform our contract with you, and for our legitimate interests in securing and improving the Service. You have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
California residents. You have the right to know, correct and delete your personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as the CCPA defines those terms.
Security
We use technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest. Access to personal information is limited to the people at Offmap who need it to operate, support and improve the Service. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you of a breach as the law requires.
International users
Offmap is based in the United States, and your information is stored and processed there.
Children
The Service is for people 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
People shown on Offmap
Offmap shows its users people at startups, usually founders and hiring leads, with their name, role and sometimes a work email address, so that job seekers can write to the right person. This information comes from company websites, public web search results and Hunter. Offmap does not send email to these people; each message is written and sent by a user, and we limit how many users can draft to the same person. Work email addresses from Hunter are kept for 12 months.
If you would like to be removed, use the form at offmap.ai/remove or write to [email protected]. We will stop showing you within 30 days, and keep a record of the request so that you are not shown again.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and if a change is material, we will notify you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
